Suspending disbelief at the pace at which the characters fall in love, I quite enjoyed reading this one on Dostoyevsky’s ideas around loneliness and fantasy. How well he gives each character a completely unique voice as they tell their similar life stories of loneliness is fantastic.
I’m not sure if I’m just cynical but I found the ending predictable, I would have preferred a more ambiguous ending, not knowing for sure what choice Nastenka makes, but I did appreciate the narrator’s reaction to her letter at the end as a more selfless interpretation of love.
